In a previous column, I showed you the difference between a credit and a void. Now it’s time to learn how to issue a credit (refund) to a customer. It’s simple within the TC Vault. Here are the 4 quick steps.
- Login to the TC Vault with your TrustCommerce Customer ID or User ID.
- Locate the transaction.
There are different ways you can locate a transaction to credit. If you know the Transaction ID number associated with the initial authorization, enter it in our quick TransID Search Bar located on the top right.
If you do not have the Transaction ID associated with the initial authorization, do not worry. Use our handy reporting tool to locate it. From the left-hand navigation, click on Reporting.
You will see several sections on the Search page where you can input transaction details associated with your authorization. Enter as much detail as needed to locate your transaction and click on Chain Report. (You do not need to complete all sections.)
- Now that you have located the transaction needed for the refund, simply click on the Card type under Transactions.
- You will then be directed to the Detail Report. From here, choose to credit the full amount or enter in a partial amount in the “Modify” section. Click Credit and you will be provided a receipt.
